Face Lift
Where is a good place to have a facelift ? What are the techniques used in facelift surgery ? What factors should be considered when choosing a facelift ? This article has compiled various information to help you make a decision about what you should know about facelifts in order to solve the problem of premature wrinkles and sagging skin, along with methods to restore and reverse the aging process so that your face is smooth, firm, and tight as it should be.
What is a face lift?
Face Lift is a surgical procedure that helps to tighten and rejuvenate the face, making it look firm and wrinkle-free. This is done by cutting away excess skin that is sagging, such as the forehead, the corners of the eyes, the cheeks, the corners of the mouth, or the neck. With experienced doctors and modern techniques, the face looks natural, recovers quickly, and the results last a long time.
Which part of the facelift solves which problem?
Facelift surgery can comprehensively address sagging skin in various areas of the face, allowing for a variety of specific solutions, such as:
Forehead Lift
It can help solve the problem of patients with wrinkles on the forehead, low eyebrows, or drooping eyes that obstruct vision.
Upper Facelift
It can help reduce the problem of sagging cheekbones, crow's feet, or wrinkles in various areas, making the skin look firmer and tighter.
Lower Facelift
It can help solve the problem of deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines, making them appear firmer, smoother, or more V-shaped.
Neck Lift
It can help solve the problem of sagging, reduce double chin in the neck area, and make it fit the proportions of the face, making you look younger.
Hidden location of facelift incision
For the location of the facelift incision, there will be different points depending on the area where the surgery is performed. There are 3 methods of hiding the incision as follows:
Upper Facelift: The incision is hidden within the hairline. If you are concerned about the scar, you can cover it with your hair.
Mid face lift: The incision is in front of the ear, curved along the groove of the ear.
Lower facelift: The incision is from the front of the ear to the back of the ear.
Therefore, the first thing that patients should prioritize is to consult and talk with an experienced doctor to gain a common understanding about the results of the surgery, including the scars in various locations, so that patients are as satisfied and safe as possible.
How many types of face lift techniques are there?
Facelift techniques for skin problems have been continuously changed and developed to reduce the complexity of the surgical procedure, reduce risks and side effects, and help adjust the face to look naturally radiant. There are 2 popular techniques as follows:
Endotine facelift technique
It is a technique for tightening the facial skin by surgically inserting Endotine into the specified location to tighten and lift the sagging facial skin to become firm again. Endotine is divided into 4 types:
Endoscopic facelift is a popular technique due to its small wounds and short recovery time. However, it requires a specialist because it uses a small camera to separate the skin layers and pull the problematic skin layer back to be tight and smooth. It can also be used in conjunction with materials such as Endotine, resulting in a more youthful appearance and effectively solving the problem of sagging skin.

Preparation before open rhinoplasty
Have a thorough physical examination and inform the doctor of any history of drug allergies, chronic diseases, or medications you are taking regularly.
Stop taking all types of vitamins at least 1-2 weeks before rhinoplasty, especially vitamins that affect blood clotting, such as vitamin E, fish oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, ginseng, grape seed, ginkgo, etc.
You should abstain from food and water for 6-8 hours before surgery because during surgery, the patient may choke on food or water. However, for local injections, it is not necessary to abstain from food and water.
You should stop smoking or drinking alcoholic beverages at least 1-2 weeks before surgery.
Avoid eating fermented foods and seafood as they will cause the wound to swell and heal slower than normal.
Do not wear contact lenses on the day of surgery.
You should wash your hair thoroughly before the surgery day and avoid wearing makeup on the day of surgery.
Post-operative care for open rhinoplasty
In the first 48 hours, it is recommended to apply cold compresses to reduce swelling, and after the first 2 days, you can start applying warm compresses.
You should sleep with your head elevated to help the surgical wound heal and reduce swelling faster. During the first 2 weeks, avoid sleeping on your stomach or side, as this can cause the shape of your nose to shift or become deformed.
Avoid wearing glasses for the first 4 weeks as the nose bridge may press or squeeze, causing the nose to deform.
Avoid alcoholic beverages and all types of fermented and pickled foods.
Avoid activities that affect the nose, such as exercise, running, blowing your nose, or swimming, for 8 weeks.
Avoid touching your nose hard. Avoid pressing, grabbing, picking, or scratching your nose.
Scar medication can be used only after the wound has completely healed. It can be started 10-14 days after surgery.
